Stargates, Water Doors and Wormholes, Oh My!

Steve Willner bestows upon us three new synchromystical mash-up videos in a trilogy called Southland Tales, Sri Yantra and The Butterfly Effect. If you haven't been following The Labyrinth of the Psychonaut saga, I suggesting starting with earlier episodes to have a better grasp of the lingo and synchrodelic esoteria references that comprise these transdimensional revampings of history and pop culture.

Terence McKenna

This short video evokes some of the emotion I felt when I first found Terence McKenna in 95, the same year the proceeding audio was recorded. I guarantee the 9 minutes you spend watching this video will be remembered as rewarding.

A New Marriage of Brain and Computer

Stuart Hameroff: A New Marriage of Brain and Computer

Google Tech Talks September, 21 2007

I decided to back to college a couple years ago to be a better witness to (and participant in) the current convergences of mathematics, genetics, systems/information theories, nano-technology and psychedelic science, so I enjoyed this lecture which delves into biophysics, neuroscience and the qualia of consciousness. Hameroff's research reveals some amazing information relating to drug activity, synchrony and consciousness. He appeared in the slapstick, new-age mega-success 'What The Fuck Do We Know?' (ice-crystals getting their feelings hurt and shamans who can't see an ocean vessel right in front of their face... okay, the drunk, horny cartoon hormones were cute...) but definitely don't let that turn you off from what he really has to share.
(Large screen link)

and here's a more recent, more philosophically-based interview if, either, you want see more of Hameroff or the technical-chemical-physics stuff in the above lecture is too confusing:

Cymatics, Fractals, and The Spirit Molecule

Posted is a video done in a style called synchromysticism. Synchromysticism seems to me like a like a combination of art, calendrics, sacred geometry, alternative history, conspiracy theories, entheogenic evolution, alchemy, new physics, astronomy and Jungian synchronicity.
(...whew!)
Archetypal mythology is enacted through the mainstream media, underground communication, our favorite Hollywood movies and current events. Weaving together seemingly disparate events is possible if we are seeing how everything is connected.

Here is a video from The Labyrinth of the Psychonaut. (This video reflects the theme of my 'entheogenic' blog. If you would like see more diverse and weird topics check out the two pages I linked below.)

Breaking the Speed of Light... and of Thought

This article is a good recap of the recent (past 6 years) experiments that registered photons traveling at various speeds faster than light. A bit heady at the end but what you expect trying to introduce the concepts of quantum communication.
Prepare to hurtle through the cosmos!

Movie: The Last Mimzy

The Last Mimzy is a new sci-fi/family film just released in theaters. I think it's the most beautiful psychedelic family film since Fantastic Planet. A little reminiscent of E.T. to be considered a truly ground-breaking story, but, none-the-less, it was one of the most stunning and elegant visual feasts since Kounen's shamanic western, Renegade (aka Blueberry). Graphical rendering using technology developed by Scott Draves of Electric Sheep fame were used along with smart portrayals of nanotechnology and sacred geometry. Also, this movie is the first to utilize the cutting edge sound synthesis technologies to carry certain premises in a very tastefull and trippy way, which any electronic music fan will surely love. Try to see it in a surround sound movie theater.

The Last Mimzy: great for kids, old-folks and drug-nerds alike.

Stunning views of the human place in nature

In this presentation, photographer Edward Burtynky accepts the 2005 TED prize, and offers an immensely mind-expanding perspective via powerful images of the large-scale human impact on nature (and the quasi-naturalistic aspects of human endeavors). No words to describe it actually, just watch. Be forewarned, though, it's about half an hour.

NY Times 2012 article

The NY Times has a very hefty article about 2012. Interviews and mentions of Jose Arguelles, Daniel Pinchbeck, John Mayor Jenkins, Terence McKenna, Johan Calleman and others. (this came in a string of 2012 synchronicities for me today, one of which being that I just started reading Apocalypse 2012 by Lawrence Joseph - which, so far, is very funny, highly accessible and based in skepticism and science, ..., so far. :)
