A discussion with the Poet of Plants, Dale Pendell
"A wide-ranging discussion with the eclectic roshi of mythopoetic exploration, from the World Psychedelic Forum in Basel, 2008." (mp3 of conversation also available.) link: DreamFlesh
Please watch this new commentary if you are following the American presidential election, ESPECIALLY if you are interested in Obama or Clinton. Ry is an extremely informed researcher and communicates well.
This half-hour video is about approaching mathematical concepts. Beautiful nature shots. I recommend this to anybody with an interest in or a fear of math, calculus and physics.
"Follow your Bliss." J.C. Mathematical Infinity and Human Destiny
This is very near to my heart as M. L. King has been a hero of mine since I was a child... even before Terence McKenna. Please pass on this 2 minute video as far and wide as you can, MLK day is the 21st.
If you've ever read any Robert Anton Wilson or Alistair Crowley or occult conspiracy material, you will have heard of the particular place the number 23 holds in reality. Or if you haven't been exposed to 23's ubiquity then I refer you to the recent Jim Carey thriller, The Number 23. Well, the simplest universal program (universal computer) was proved to be a 2-3 Turing machine about a month ago! A 2-3 Universal Turing machine is like cellular automata with two states and three colors, and contains every pattern possible. A 7-state, 4-color machine from 1962 held the record until now. Proved in 20 pages by a 20 year old, it was an historic breakthrough in mathematics and the info-sciences (more info below). So, relax all you 23ers, you were right. No matter how hard you try, you will never stop seeing 23s EVERYWHERE!! In celebration, watch this strange short film! (seriously, watch this film, it's wild.)
Posted is a video done in a style called synchromysticism. Synchromysticism seems to me like a like a combination of art, calendrics, sacred geometry, alternative history, conspiracy theories, entheogenic evolution, alchemy, new physics, astronomy and Jungian synchronicity. (...whew!) Archetypal mythology is enacted through the mainstream media, underground communication, our favorite Hollywood movies and current events. Weaving together seemingly disparate events is possible if we are seeing how everything is connected.
Here is a video from The Labyrinth of the Psychonaut. (This video reflects the theme of my 'entheogenic' blog. If you would like see more diverse and weird topics check out the two pages I linked below.)
Linked is a 1/2 hour video of a talk by biotechnology-rhetoric extraordinaire, Richard Doyle. I'm reading his second book, Wetwares, which seems, so far, to be an advanced exploration of reality and technology through language. The engaging and dimensional style is reminiscent of such worldy word-wielders as Jonathan Ott, Terence McKenna, William Burroughs, Gilles Deleauze and even James Joyce. "Doyle is currently completing a literary trilogy with a scholarly book about archaic and contemporary psychedelic media technologies and the evolution of mind: Ecodelic! Plants, Rhetoric and the Evolution of The Noƶsphere."
Outstanding article by a paleoanthropologist from our future. This is one of those linguistic creations that is so psychedelically informed it acts as multifaceted reality-jewel and a vision endowed by cosmic timescales. I really don't have much of a response because a lot of what passes through my mind was cohesively represented by the words of this article. So save this one, print it and read it on the bus or with a morning cup of yerba mate or opium tea or whatever you sip in your dreamtime-to-daytime transition. Google and the Myceliation of Consciousness. Another hat-tip to Reality Sandwich.
:We Will Not Be Silenced: pt. 1 has millions of views and has won some progressive media awards. Using the words of a very impassioned preacher named Rev. Graylan Hagler and nice music and editing it sends a strong anti-war message. Pt. 2 is more recent and has wonderfully trippy design and editing, I think by an artist called Psychedelic Dance Music. Both can be seen HERE
This is crazy! Seriously phenomenal. (Attention Span Warning: This is nine minutes long. Do not attempt to watch unless you are in the mood for some advanced poetry, science, or concepts! (or stoned, perhaps.))
... Sometimes it's hard to follow the weird voice... but I think it'is an O-K method of relaying this information. Voot! Summary from Youtube: The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna or LISA mission will study the mergers of supermassive black holes, test Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, and probe the early Universe. Detecting gravitational waves is a new way to observe the Universe. Through them we will learn more about the mergers of giant black holes and the death spirals of stars that black holes capture and swallow. LISA will look for gravitational waves coming from our Galaxy and other galaxies. LISA will also map the structure of space and time around black holes and determine if Einstein's theories are correct.
I don't know why I dislike the word 'blog' so much. It just has such an overtly organic and phlegmy ring to it. It's a very 'verby' verb. Too synthetic... like the idea that we have already created artificial intelligence (AI) in our computer systems. While the internet may persist and 'evolve,' I doubt the word 'blog' has much lasting power.
This new entheogenic magazine is gorgeous. Available online as PDF, The Invisible College, has just been published. This first issue includes art and interview of visionary artist Martina Hoffmann, poetry by Clark Heinrich and Laura Pendell, and lots of other quality writing and art.
I especially recommend the reporting from global rave and psytrance scholar, Graham St. John, on page 40.
