Psychedelic Shabbat

"The drive out to the Universal Temple of Higher Consciousness (UTHC) from San Diego takes an hour. It’s at the UTHC where for the last year a weekly psychedelic, operatic, cinematic and ecstatic Shabbat has taken place, hosted and performed by three creative, liberal and expressive Jews"

Stunning views of the human place in nature

In this presentation, photographer Edward Burtynky accepts the 2005 TED prize, and offers an immensely mind-expanding perspective via powerful images of the large-scale human impact on nature (and the quasi-naturalistic aspects of human endeavors). No words to describe it actually, just watch. Be forewarned, though, it's about half an hour.

Entheogens on Colbert report again.

You may have heard the story a couple months ago about a Canadian psychotherapist who was permanentely barred from entering the US when a border guard Googled his name and found he wrote a paper about theraputic use of LSD 30 years ago. Well, Stephen Colbert noticed it too and did this hysterical yet saddening piece about it.

Book Review: Higher Wisdom

(The reason I'm not posting much these weeks is because I have a little break from school so instead of surfing the web in my free time I've been catching up on my reading list and doing a little much-needed socializing. )

I ordered Higher Wisdom: Emminent Elders Explore the Continuing Impact of Psychedelics from MAPS and just finished it. A real gem of psychedelic literature, Higher Wisdom is a collection of interviews by Roger Walsh and Charles Grob of 14 legendary luminaries of the 20th century. Every individual interviewed has done so much for humanity and shares immeasurably valuable wisdom here. I particular enjoyed the first interview with James Fadiman who peppers his profound stories with delightful and insightful wit. The interviews with world-renowned religious scholar Huston Smith and psychologists Gary Fisher and Myron Stolaroff were also particularly engaging for me.
This is a great book to give to someone who is just beginning to become interested in psychedelics as well as seasoned veterans of entheogenic history.

The book is only $25, or if you donate $50 to MAPS you will get a year subscription to the Bulletin AND any one of the books they offer.

Documentary: 2057

Three episodes of this cool documentary series called 2057 hosted by futurist Michio Kaku.
'The Body' episode is really trippy, especially towards the end where transhumanism and the definition of privacy are discussed.
